Uzbekistan: Beeline deploys new base stations in Surkhandarya

Beeline Uzbekistan has expanded the coverage and capacity of its 3G network in Surkhandarya Region. New base stations were put into operation in the city of Termez, as well as in Baysun, Denau, Kumkurgan, Muzrabad, and Sherabad districts of Surkhandarya Region.

Djezzy has resumed the operation of its Flexy service after a major upgrade of its IT systems, carried out as part of the company’s efforts to improve the customer experience, caused service outages on September 10. The operator also apologized to its subscribers for the inconvenience caused.

Armenia: Beeline and Cafesjian Center for the Arts to sum up results of ‘Summer Sculpture Garden’ initiative

A final event as part of the “Summer Sculpture Garden” educational program, which is sponsored by ArmenTel (the Beeline Armenia brand), will be held at the Cafesjian Center for the Arts on September 16.

Как сообщает пресс-служба компании, последнее мероприятие в рамках программы состоится 16-го сентября. Каждую субботу семьи, в которых воспитываются дети старше пяти лет, принимали участие в интерактивных турах, открывали для себя работы искусствоведов, представленные в саду Центра, ознакамливались с используемыми материалами и техникой изготовления. После этого в Креативном зале Центра сами создавали скульптуры. В конце программы семьи-участницы представили свои творения посредством пантомимы. «Прогрессивное образование подразумевает инновационные методы. Собственноручное создание скульптур и знакомство с работами мастеров позволит детям приобрести глубокие познания», — отметил генеральный директор Beeline в Армении Андрей Пятахин. Он выразил уверенность, что общение с искусством и интересный досуг с членами семьи сделает жизнь детей лучше. Спонсором программы является Beeline в Армении. В июле-сентябре 2017 года было организовано восемь программ, в которых приняли участие 45 семей. Beeline и Центр искусств Гафесчян сотрудничают с 2011 года. В рамках этого сотрудничества в центре периодически осуществляются детско-юношеские, семейные и другие образовательные программы, целью которых является эстетическое воспитание детей и юношества. Интерактивный учебный центр, открытый в одной из галерей Гафесчян в 2015 году при поддержке Beeline, был оснащен современными цифровыми технологиями, сделав доступными для посетителей цифровые он-лайн базы коллекций и данных крупных музеев и других центров искусства мира. Late last year, the telco had written to the Department of Telecom (DoT) to allocate airwaves in the 700 MHz band for rolling out 4G services. The company expects to get the government’s approval soon for using airwaves in 700 MHz band for offering 4G and 5G services in the future. BSNL would be required to match the highest bidder’s price to acquire the spectrum though historically it is not required to participate in auction. However, given the high debt burden of the telecom sector, the proposed auction of spectrum in various bands may get delayed by a year. The telco is likely to report a revenue of Rs 28,700 crore in 2016-17, against Rs 28,400 crore the year before despite stiff price war from Reliance Jio. Shrivastava said BSNL’s balance sheet is least leveraged with just Rs 5,000 crore debt and the company is also aiming for profitability at net level in 2018-19. He admitted that BSNL has been left behind but in the last few years, it is on a revival path as it ramps up its infrastructure backbone. The company has finalised Rs 6,000 crore for setting up 40,000 new base stations which will be implemented by Nokia and ZTE. Nokia will execute the work in the south and west regions while ZTE will do it in the north and east. Telecom minister Manoj Sinha had recently said the country was switching from voice-centric to data-centric and expected that data usage in India to soon surpass China and USA. VoLTE service allows even voice communication over data pipeline. BSNL had introduced several competitive scheme for data but was unable to offer free unlimited voice but with VoLTE it will make such efforts possible, officials said. Other private telecom majors like Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone are also working in the VoLTE space. Shrivastava said interaction with Nokia had already taken place on 5G for field trials and a knowledge sharing agreement has been signed with network firm Coriant.

Le code de deontologie de VEON permet d’offrir un cadeau ou une invitation a un fonctionnaire ou a un titulaire de charge publique, mais cette decision est assujettie a des limitations strictes que sont: »o Payer ou rembourser des frais de deplacement, des frais de representation ou de loisirs — par ex., des billets d’avion, des repas (autres que de simples rafra?chissements) ou des factures d’h?tel. «Presenter des cadeaux d’une valeur autre que symbolique. «Faire des contributions caritatives.» Dans tous ces cas, Mr NESCI a viole manifestement le code de deontologie de VEON, et plus particulierement l’article 4.1 de ce code qui stipule clairement que: »VEON interdit generalement l’offre d’argent, de cadeaux, de loisirs ou d’elements de valeur a un fonctionnaire ou un titulaire de charge publique, en vue d’influencer ses decisions afin d’obtenir, de conserver ou de proteger un avantage commercial ou professionnel ; ce peut aussi etre lie autrement a des decisions pouvant profiter aux interets professionnels de VEON.» »Faire des affaires avec un fonctionnaire ou un titulaire de charge publique ou des entreprises privees appartenant completement ou partiellement a un fonctionnaire ou a une personnalite publique ou aux membres de sa famille immediate, ou bien dans laquelle un fonctionnaire ou une personnalite publique possede des interets economiques, peut soulever des graves problemes de pots-de-vin. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority is looking to develop a regulatory framework for the following things in order to serve the needs of the telecoms sector: granting the Right of Way (RoW) for telecommunications infrastructure, defining charges for right of way for public, private, cantonments and other jurisdictions, develop outside plant code, defining SOPs and Standards for in-building cabling, preparing guidelines for use of utility infrastructure, framework for provision of wholesale fiber services on fair and non-discriminatory basis.

PTA, in an advertisement published on its website, said that it is seeking to regulate the above mentioned areas while keeping in view the current market state and the applicable legal and regulatory framework. For those who don’t know, Right of Way is a term that is used to indicate the deployment of telecom infrastructure (cables, towers, machines) at third party locations. For example, if there’s a Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) company that wants to deploy its fiber optic cables in a private society or housing scheme for providing internet access, usually there’s no legal cover provided for both the internet company and the locality where its laying down its infrastructure. In such situations, the deal is usually locked by mutual agreement and consent of both the parties. However if there is some disagreement, telecom companies are simply denied access and hence deprived of offering their services in such localities. This is not the only scenario where Right of Way is an issue for telecom operators. They are also denied, or at the minimum, face a delay in deployment when infrastructure is to be laid/deployed at a government owned land, cantonments or in case there’s a law and order situation (i.e. threat of terrorist activities). The PTA is looking to resolve these kinds of issues now. The aim is to facilitate everyone by bringing all stakeholders under a legal cover for timely resolution of any concerns that may lead to a dispute. In addition to this, the regulator is also preparing to define standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for deploying indoor cabling to avoid any accidents. For the purpose, PTA has said that it will hire consultants to help them in formulating these rules. Not to be mentioned, the above areas have been identified in the Telecom Policy 2015 and will be regularized under the new rules.

Los bajistas, accionistas que apuestan a favor de la caida del valor, llegaron a tener posiciones del 24,8% en el capital el pasado julio (las mayores en la Bolsa espanola), pero a 1 de septiembre, segun el recuento de la CNMV, han reducido su presencia hasta el 18,2%. Jugar a la contra parece que no es tan rentable desde la entrada en el accionariado del magnate ruso Mikhail Fridman, que directa o indirectamente controla el 10% del grupo desde este verano. Es, tras Baille Gifford & Co, el segundo accionista de la cadena espanola que preside Ana Maria Llopis. ?Cambio de estrategia? En Dia lo califican “de un accionista mas” —no se sienta en el consejo— y no comentan si Fridman, el segundo hombre mas rico de Rusia, forzara un giro de timon en la gestion. En lo que si coinciden los analistas es en que “ha llevado estabilidad a la multinacional”. Ricardo Curras, su consejero delegado, insiste en que estan “en el camino de cumplir los objetivos” para este ano y el proximo. A saber, un crecimiento de ventas brutas de alrededor de un 5% y aranar un mejor resultado operativo. La pregunta es como lo haran con un mercado nacional en retroceso y menos tiendas en Espana (en el primer semestre cerraron 32 respecto al mismo periodo del ano anterior). En la presentacion de resultados de finales de julio esa fue la gran incognita expresada por los analistas. La caida de facturacion en la peninsula en los ultimos seis meses fue de 110 millones (hasta los 2.717 milones). “Ha ocurrido por el efecto del calendario”, repitio varias veces Curras (la celebracion de la Semana Santa y otras fiestas suele variar sensiblemente las ventas de un ano a otro). El ejecutivo se centra en la fortaleza de unos numeros en general positivos por el aumento de facturacion global en un 4%, (4.287 millones) y un buen comportamiento de los mercados emergentes (Brasil y Argentina). Las ventas en Espana se han reducido pero aumentan los mercados de Brasil y Argentina Tambien han llegado buenas noticias de parte de los juzgados que tramitan querellas por falsedad documental, apropiacion indebida, coacciones o incluso maltrato psicologico presentadas por afectados que consideran que la cadena ahoga sus negocios con malas practicas. Esta semana un juez de Vic (Barcelona) desestimaba la demanda de dos empresarios y se inhibia en otros siete casos porque no ve “el mas minimo indicio de que las perdidas o quiebra de las franquicias estuviese determinada por la supuesta politica de precios, stocks y ofertas impuestas por Dia”. La litigiosidad es minima, dicen en la empresa. “No hemos tenido ninguna sentencia en contra. Tenemos mas de 2.000 franquicias, siempre puede haber discrepancias, pero en ningun caso actuamos de mala fe. Financiamos con coste cero a los franquiciados” valoran. Alberto Rodriguez, uno de los afectados de Madrid, dice que en la capital hay otros 70 empresarios que esperan una decision sobre una demanda colectiva, tumbada en un juzgado de Las Rozas y recurrida ante la Audiencia Provincial. “El negocio de mi mujer y mio facturaba 130.000 euros, ese no era el problema. El problema son los costes que nos imputaban y la presion. Hacian que nos fuesemos comiendo el stock con las ofertas, los cupones y los descuentos, y que todo recayese sobre los trabajadores”, denuncia. En otros frentes, la pelea de los distribuidores se centra en seducir a un cliente dispuesto a gastar un poco mas. “Hace 15 anos el establecimiento medio en Espana tenia 700 metros. Ahora es dificil encontrar puntos de venta por debajo de 1.200 metros”, valora un analista del sector. “Ha crecido el surtido. Hace falta espacio para reponer los lineales, descargar mercancia, atender la cada vez mayor area de comidas preparadas, bebidas frias…”. Con una cuota de mercado de alrededor del 6,3% en Espana, segun el informe del sector de Alimarket con datos de 2016, Dia es el tercer operador del pais y el mas internacionalizado. Ha sufrido por su negocio en China (busca comprador para sus mas de 200 tiendas en Shanghai); y ha tenido que digerir la compra de cadenas comerciales de los ultimos anos —El Arbol en Castilla Leon o una parte de la red de Eroski—. Y al mismo tiempo ha buscado al cliente con reformas de tiendas y acuerdos para dar el salto al negocio online arriesgando quiza mas que sus competidores. “Trabajamos en la omnicanalidad”, presumen en la cadena. La tienda crece Sus tiendas van desde el formato pequeno de proximidad, desde 300 metros cuadrados con productos envasados y con una pequena parte de congelados, hasta tiendas de mas de 1.000 metros, con mucha mas presencia de productos perecederos. “Tambien hemos potenciado la panaderia y los productos gourmet. Nuestra linea Delicius arranco con 20 referencias y ahora tiene mas de 200”.Este ano terminaran la remodelacion de sus locales La Plaza, que se apartan del formato austero que ha definido a Dia para prestar mas atencion a los puestos de verduras y frutas frescas, a la carne al corte y el pescado. Palelamente se han marcado como objetivo pasar de vender 20 millones a traves de su web a facturar 120 millones en cinco anos. Hoy un cliente de Madrid y Barcelona puede pedir que Amazon haga la compra en sus supermercados y se la sirva en casa en menos de dos horas. Sus tiendas tambien funcionan como cajeros automaticos para los usuarios del banco holandes ING. Entre marcas y formatos comerciales cuenta con 11 tipos de establecimientos en Espana, Portugal, Argentina, Brasil y China. Su red se extiende, entre franquicias y establecimientos propios, a 7.700 tiendas. “Nuestra inversion ha sido muy fuerte”, recuerdan en el grupo. El ano pasado fueron 345 millones y en el primer semestre no han ofrecido el dato. Todo para llegar a diciembre de 2018 con 750 millones en operaciones de caja y un crecimiento organico del 7% en ventas.

Telit Communications Plc., a once-hot IoT stock, has lost more than half its market value in a matter of days as the company hired lawyers to investigate reports linking CEO Oozi Cats to an old fraud case, and reported disappointing first-half results.

 

Telit Communications Plc, a once-hot Internet of Things stock, had the equivalent of a cold shower this week, losing more than half its market value in a matter of days as the company hired lawyers to investigate reports linking Chief Executive Officer Oozi Cats to an old fraud case. That was on Wednesday, two days after the maker of hardware that enables connectivity for cars and everyday items reported disappointing first-half results, which sent the shares tumbling 42 percent in London. Telit plunged another 33 percent on Aug. 9, when the company said Cats would take a leave of absence, noting “speculation regarding historical indictments” in the U.S. of the CEO it said are “unrelated to Telit and significantly pre-date its establishment.” The company is looking into media reports suggesting Cats is the same man as a fugitive named in U.S. court documents as Uzi Katz, who was indicted in a 1992 wire fraud case in Boston. Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano suggested Oozi Cats and Uzi Katz are one and the same, while the Financial Times said Uzi Katz and his wife Ruth were accused of engaging in property fraud. The last docket entry in the case, from April 1999, shows Katz had been on the run for more than 30 days. A spokesman for Telit declined to comment beyond Wednesday’s statement that said the company has appointed independent solicitors to “conduct a thorough review of this matter.” Anne Hassett, who represented Katz in Boston, said the events surrounding the case are 25 years old and that there are a lot of things she doesn’t remember, when contacted by phone. Street Favorite Telit, which reached an all-time high of 371.75 pence in April, is now trading little higher than the 140 pence shareholders paid in its 2005 initial public offering. Cats, who is the company’s biggest shareholder, sold 7.1 million shares — or a 5.5 percent stake — in Telit a month after it hit its record high. The stock, which rose 3.5 percent to 142 pence as of 8:25 a.m. in London, is poised for its biggest weekly decline since the listing. The catalog of bad news hasn’t prompted any of the four analysts who cover the stock to lower their buy or equivalent ratings on the company, a Street favorite that rose to prominence in 2014 among investors seeking to profit from the IoT megatrend connecting everyday objects with the Internet. RBC Capital Markets analyst Paul Treiber cut his target price to 225 pence from 300 pence on Thursday, though the average target of 265 pence is still almost double where the shares are currently trading. RBC’s Treiber wrote in a note that his revised price target reflects reduced visibility on near-term financials, though he reiterated his outperform rating, saying that “the news regarding the CEO may have nominal impact on the underlying business given the high mix of revenue from long-term design wins and the breadth of the company’s partner base and sales channels.
